- SCO Renewal Core-PTW-Foa £300.00 8 remainingOur SCO Core, PTW and FOA Renewal course is designed for gas industry personnel who already hold valid SCO registrations and need to maintain their competence under the Safe Control of Operations (SCO) scheme. This renewal module ensures you remain fully aligned with updated gas network procedures, industry expectations and EUSR registration requirements.
Renewing your SCO Core Module (Module 1), Permit to Work (Module 2) and Form of Authority (Module 5) is essential for anyone who continues to issue permits, review documentation, oversee routine operations or apply their own gas safety procedures in day‑to‑day work across the gas network. The renewal programme reinforces your responsibilities, updates your knowledge, and helps you continue to work in a safe and proper manner across the UK gas distribution networks.

Below you can view the currently scheduled available dates for this training:
This renewal course is specifically designed for individuals who already hold a current SCO registration and require an updated qualification to continue operating under the SCO scheme. The renewal payment online option allows you to complete your refresher training remotely through a live virtual classroom, led by one of our qualified trainers. Classroom-based delivery is available for groups upon request.
The renewal programme focuses on reinforcing existing knowledge rather than introducing foundational learning. It revisits the structure of the SCO scheme, the responsibilities of competent persons and authorising engineers, and the correct use of gas safety procedures based on revised national guidance. Upon successful completion, renewed EUSR registration is issued, confirming your continued compliance and professional competence.
This renewal module takes approximately four hours to complete and includes refreshed training, assessment and updated certification.
Learners can complete their renewal online, making the process efficient and accessible. The live virtual classroom mirrors the structure and assessment standards of classroom delivery, ensuring your competence is validated against the same rigorous criteria.
The renewal payment online is straightforward and secure, allowing you to reserve your place quickly. Once registered, you will receive joining instructions, course guidance and all necessary assessment information directly from our training team.
For employers requiring multiple renewals, we offer coordinated bookings, group delivery options and structured renewal days tailored to operational schedules.
Form of Authority (FOA) is a core element of the SCO scheme, and maintaining FOA certification is critical for professionals who issue, manage or oversee formal authorisation for gas network work. FOA certification holders must renew before their expiration date to ensure they continue to meet compliance requirements under relevant law and industry standards.
During the renewal, you will revisit:
The FOA certification renewals process ensures that individuals working under the SCO scheme understand the impact of their documentation, their authority and the legal implications of incorrect or misleading information. FOA considers misleading information or unauthorised disclosures as conduct that may constitute grounds for removal of certification. The renewal process helps reinforce the importance of accurate documentation and safe control of work.
The SCO Core Module is at the foundation of the renewal programme. It ensures that gas industry personnel remain up to date with the purpose, structure and wider requirements of the Safe Control of Operations scheme. The renewal revisits gas network procedures, risk assessment protocols, routine operations, emergency processes and key responsibilities outlined within the sco scheme.
You will revisit concepts such as:

The SCO scheme ensures that individuals working on the gas network are trained to do so safely by understanding gas network procedures and correct Permitry. The SCO scheme is the knowledge-based part of a Competent Person’s or Authorising Engineer’s route to network registration and is followed by the competence-based part of the overall requirement.
