Emergency First Aid Training at Work

At Jason Rowley Ltd, we offer Emergency First Aid at Work Training to equip individuals with the essential skills needed to respond to emergency situations in the workplace. Our one-day course ensures that workplace first aiders gain the necessary skills to manage first aid emergencies, minor injuries, and medical conditions, meeting health and safety regulations.

This work training course is ideal for low-risk environments, providing practical skills in first aid techniques, risk assessment, and emergency protocols. Upon successful completion, candidates receive an Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate, qualifying them as a certified first aider in their organisation.

Course Overview

Provide immediate care in the event of a workplace emergency with Emergency First Aid Workplace (EFAW) Training. The course is designed for all workers and engineers, providing basic knowledge and awareness of first aid. An essential life-saving skill for those working in the gas, electricity and telecommunications industries where individuals can often come into contact with hazardous materials and dangerous situations.

Our training helps to prepare engineers with the reactive skills to provide emergency and immediate first aid in the case of: 

  • Burns and scalds
  • Choking 
  • Minor and severe bleeding
  • Seizures
  • Shock
  • An unresponsive adult
  • Respiratory arrest – Adult resuscitation (CPR)
  • Cardiac arrest – Adult resuscitation (CPR)

In addition to training in: 

  • The role of the first aider (including knowledge of health and safety regulations)
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Defibrillator prompts and how to respond (theory based)
  • Defibrillator pad placement (theory based)

EFAW Training can be provided for groups of workers or individuals, the on-site, in-person training is designed to educate and train workers in Emergency First Aid in the workplace. Training will be conducted in the form of roleplay, quizzes and questioning, practical demonstrations and activities and therefore must be carried out on-site in a face-to-face setting. 

Designed and taught in line with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, equip your workforce with essential first aid training.

Course Structure

Training is conducted in a face-to-face classroom setting to ensure a practical understanding and responsiveness to emergency aid situations.

The structure of the course will cover both practical and theoretical knowledge of what to do in an emergency and how to respond. The course will ensure participants understand: 

  • The role of the first aider (including knowledge of health and safety regulations)
  • Communication and getting help 
  • Assessing, monitoring and caring for a casualty
  • Defibrillator prompts and how to respond (theory based)
  • Defibrillator pad placement (theory based)

Certification is awarded on the successful completion of the Emergency First Aid at Work Training. Qualified trainees will be certified for three years before needing to re-certify and requalify with refresher training.

Course Duration

The Emergency First Aid Workplace Training course takes place over the course of a working day, the course should take around eight hours to complete. This includes continuous assessment throughout the duration of the training and a written assessment conducted after the practical training. The course will be delivered in person to encourage a hands-on, practical approach to first aid training. The course can be delivered online or face-to-face, for individuals or workplace teams as a collective, on-site.

The Emergency First Aid Workplace Training course cost is priced at £120.00 (exclusive of VAT). VAT invoices will be provided upon request.

What are the legal requirements of the workplace?

Employers have an obligation under the health and safety (first aid) regulations 1981 to make adequate and appropriate provision for their workforce. Within the Utility industry first aid provision may be more detailed and include a surplus of medical equipment due to the greater risks involved in the workplace.

All courses are designed to give your staff the essential skills they need, and the confidence required to provide effective first aid. All our courses meet and exceed the current (UK) Resuscitation Council guidelines and are HSE compliant.

First Aid courses are delivered on request, so please contact us to arrange a suitable date.

Nominated first aiders or the appointed first aid person in the workplace should attend a course equipping individuals with essential skills to provide initial assistance in emergency situations. These courses cover a range of topics, including life-saving techniques, injury management, and basic medical care. 

  • First Aid at Work is aimed at individuals working in high-risk environments such as building sites.
  • Emergency First Aid at Work is aimed at individuals working in low-risk environments such as offices.
